The Kid’s baths provide a great opportunity to add some fun and whimsy to your home. This space has long been overlooked and treated as a bit of an afterthought. Bathroom design conversations often focus on the Primary bath (which is, of course, extremely important) and the kid’s bath gets the basic treatment. Recently, we’ve noticed a trend where more time, energy and creativity are being used in this so-called secondary space. After all, why not? Let’s take the kids out of secondary position and create something unique and inspiring. Styles ranging from classic and neutral to bright and bold can work for any home or age group. Designs run the gamut from extremely bright and young to a more sophisticated use of color with the intention of the bathroom growing with the children.
We pulled some favorite ideas below, using fixtures, tile and wallpaper to create a bathroom any kid (and parent) would love!
The Kohler Brockway double sink offers the chance to custom match the color to your design and gives the space a vintage flare. Kids love having their own easy to use faucets and searching for animals in the fanciful wallpaper. Additionally, the oval mirror adds an unexpected playful element.
Color makes a big splash on vanities. Kraftmaid’s goldenrod paint on a wall hung vanity lends a modern (and easy to clean!) spirit to this bathroom. We encourage you to look at the vanity as a blank canvas to add a bold pop of color and personality in a kid’s bath. Using a color pop and surrounding it in neutrals keeps the space grounded.
The cheerful wallpaper does it all in this space designed by Digs Design Co, creating a playful environment for kids. Keeping the rest of the space warm and neutral takes the guess work out of the design process.
If you are really looking to make a statement, go for a bold mosaic tile accent wall behind the vanity. The bathroom below would suit teenagers well, with a modern blend of design and function. The bathroom features a Kohler Quo vanity and a Robern Uplift medicine cabinet with integrated led lighting, both offering tons of needed storage. The Ann Sacks black and white tile mosaic, paired with the black and white vanity and fixtures, creates a bold, sophisticated contrast.
We hope this inspired you to have a little fun with your next kid’s bathroom project. Don’t be afraid to use color; it can be an accent or a focal point, whatever you prefer!
